"Beastly," directed by Daniel Barnz, is a modern retelling of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" story set in contemporary New York City. The plot centers around Kyle Kingson, a wealthy and arrogant high school student who is cursed by a witch to become physically disfigured as punishment for his cruelty. To break the curse, Kyle must find someone who will love him despite his appearance within a year, or remain in his altered state forever. He isolates himself from society, moving into a secluded apartment with his housekeeper and a blind tutor. As time passes, Kyle meets Lindy, a kind-hearted classmate who begins to see beyond his exterior. Through their developing relationship, Kyle learns valuable lessons about love, humility, and inner beauty.
