Ending Explained

In the conclusion of M. Night Shyamalan's horror film "The Visit," the central twist is revealed, drastically altering the perception of the events throughout the movie. The story follows two siblings, Becca and Tyler, who are visiting their grandparents for the first time. Throughout their stay, they notice increasingly strange and disturbing behavior from their grandparents. As the film progresses, the children's suspicions grow, leading Becca to decide to secretly film a documentary to capture the odd behavior. The climax of the film occurs when the children discover that the elderly couple they have been staying with are not their real grandparents. Instead, they are escaped mental patients who killed the children’s actual grandparents and took their place. The film ends with Becca and Tyler managing to escape the impostors after a series of terrifying encounters. They are rescued by their mother, who arrives at the house after realizing the danger when she sees the faces of the real grandparents in a video chat. The movie concludes with the children and their mother embracing, relieved to be safe and together again, while the impostors are presumably dealt with by the authorities.
